Can Woodley actually crack the Top 3 LA Muni courses? I didn't think so... until I golfed it again last week and it may have changed my opinion. When anyone asks me what I think of Woodley, I typically reply with "it's a bowling alley with holes and pins, not that exciting". But the real reason for that could come because I typically golf the back 9 during weekday mornings. Now back 9 mornings at Woodley are my favorite. The dog leg right to kick off the back, a par 3 on 12 (play it from the blacks to make it fun), attempting to split the palm trees on 13 and a par 5 18th that is surrounded by palm trees and backs the chipping / short game area of the course.

But when I think about the front 9, there's not a lot that stands out. Relatively straight fairways, no elevation change, a few trees lining the fairways and single tier greens that are medium in size (for the most part). But maybe that's the reason why so many love it - it's easy. As a 8 handicap, the course is fun because it allows for you to go at flags, (attempt) big drives and easily recover from bad shots. But is that it? Is that why it's so great?
Of course not! Woodley lakes also has the ONLY (real) grass range in all of Los Angeles County, multiple putting greens, a short game area and they're the home of the Best Ball Bar (which is the place to be during NFL Sundays). I can see why people love this course, it has all the making that make golf great - freedom to play aggressive, a few twists and turns to keep you interested, practice area that competes with any in the city and a club house worth stopping by.

Now how about the other city courses? See the results from an Instagram poll we ran last week, ranking other LA Muni Courses against each other:
